Harley-Davidson
Raffle a Success!
Thanks to the generosity of Orville and Carolyn Sheldon of
Sheldon's Harley-Davidson in Auburn, Y.O.U., Inc. recently raised almost $20,000 towards
our capital campaign for the Joy and Robert Wetzel Children's Center. Sheldon's donated a
1999 Sportster which we used as the first prize for a raffle. Both the second prize, a
vacation getaway and the third prize, Fleet Center Bruins tickets, were also donated.
Raffle tickets were $100 each.
This is the kind of special event every development officer
dreams aboutone in which 100% of the revenue can go towards the programs. Thanks to Image
Press, we didn't even have to pay for the cost of printing the tickets or publicity
materials. In addition, there were several businesses that helped us to publicize the
raffle. Thanks to Larry and Gloria Abramoff at Tatnuck Booksellers & Sons, Bill
Iandoli at Austin Liquors and Cathy Cooper at Sam's Club. These businesses displayed the
bike and sold tickets for us.
Y.O.U., Inc. competed with almost 30 other agencies for the
project, and we are proud that we were able both to interest the Sheldon's and to hold
such a successful fundraising event as a result.
