WORCESTER JUVENILE FIRE SETTER INTERVENTION PROGRAM

Did You Know?

*Juvenile firesetters account for half of all structure fires in the United States.

    *In the United States, a fire breaks out in someone's home every 45 minutes.

        *Juvenile firesetters are responsible for 50% of all arson fires.

Goal/Mission

The program goal is to provide assessments, education and treatment to juvenile firesetters; and to ensure that every child who exhibits inappropriate fire behavior in the community receives consistent, prompt and effective intervention.

Who is Eligible?

The program accepts any person who is classified as a firesetter under the following characteristics: Actual Fires, Attempted Fires, Arson, Match Play, Bombings, Bomb Making, Pulling False Alarms, Calling Bomb Threats, Huffing of Flammables.

Treatment

Worcester Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Program provides an eight-week educational course that deals with the following: Fire Safety, Fire Knowledge, Fire Science, Coping Techniques, Anger Management and Responsibility.

Cost

There is a $100.00 cost for the program to individuals residing outside the City of Worcester. Payment should be made at intake.

Volunteer and Intern Opportunities

The program is looking for volunteers and interns who are willing to be trained to provide a two hour Fire Education Class for a five week course.
