Our treatment approach emphasizes ongoing family work because we understand that healing is a collaborative process. We partner with families and guardians to plan, develop, and implement an individualized treatment approach for each client and each family. Family services are incorporated into each girl’s treatment plan, and viewed as central to her recovery and reintegration into the community. At Cottage Hill Academy we partner with families in several ways. Weekly family therapy is offered through our clinical department, comprised of licensed social workers and licensed mental health counselors. Our clinical staff is mobile; if a family is unable to travel to CHA, clinicians arrange to meet with them in their home. On Saturdays, a popular visiting day, our clinical staff offers a family support group. Our residential management teams assess girls daily and they plan off- and on-grounds family visits. The team works with families to facilitate visits whether it is through providing transportation, reimbursement for travel costs, or providing on-site family accommodations at the Jerilyn Niemala Family Center. Residential staff maintains daily contact with families in order to inform them of their daughter’s progress and provide families with an opportunity to ask questions or voice any concerns that they may have regarding their daughter. Each cottage offers a spacious family visiting room to encourage comfortable and private family visits with nearby access and assistance from staff when requested. |
