On February 17th, Americans celebrate the extraordinary life of George Washington. President's Day honors Washington's extraordinary leadership - as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War; as a Founding Father of the United States of America; and as President of our great nation. We reflect upon his bold vision for an independent nation, courage and resilience when solutions seemed impossible to find or out of reach, and continued effort to follow a righteous path, despite internal and external conflict on how to best do this.
We relate to these qualities as we approach each day with a bold vision, courage and resilience, and a sense of honor that comes from putting forth our best effort, even though we may struggle or falter from time-to-time. As individuals dedicated to improving conditions for children, families, and communities in need, we understand how this challenging vision requires exceptional leadership and all the "Washington-like" qualities we can muster up each day.
The broad range of Y.O.U. Inc. programs and services reflects more than four decades of leadership vision, resilience, and determination. We take this opportunity to acknowledge and honor our own Presidents - Moe Boisvert who led the agency for more than four decades and an array of Board Chairpersons who helped to steer the Y.O.U. Inc. ship across this ocean of time and change. I invite you to click here see more on our historic leaders, many of whom continue to actively serve the organization in an Emeritus role.
As we move forward and continue to address the educational, behavioral health, social, and overall wellness needs of the children and families we serve, we know this requires leadership capacity from all of us - Board Member, CEO, Community Supporter, Funder, Employee, Volunteer, or Family Member - to create opportunities for youth to realize brighter futures. Let's use this President's Day to reflect on our own personal strengths and the ways we can leverage our collective skills, talents, and yes - leadership capacities - to fulfill our vital mission.
Happy President's Day.
