Forsberg

Our agency is pleased to welcome David P. Forsberg, a seasoned human service executive, who was recently appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Forsberg has previously served as the interim CEO of Lutheran Social Services of New England, Inc. (now Ascentria Care Alliance) and Secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services.  He also was the President and CEO of the Worcester Business Development Corporation and the New England Administrator of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  His career also includes appointments as the Dean of the School of Business at Anna Maria College, Chief Development Officer of the Massachusetts Port Authority and for the City of Worcester.  A native of Worcester, he served as a Worcester City Councilor.

Mr. Forsberg’s numerous awards include the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health Public Service Award, the National Conference of Christians and Jews Brotherhood Community Service Award and the Boston University Metropolitan College Alumni Award for Public Service to the Community.  A graduate of Worcester Academy, Mr. Forsberg earned degrees from Bowdoin College and Boston University before pursuing graduate studies at the Harvard Divinity School.

Mr. Forsberg succeeds Beth Folcarelli, PhD, who in her three-year tenure reframed YOU, Inc., for a wider reach and more diversified services for children, adults and families.  She led the agency through a period of rapid change in the social service arena as state, federal and private funding decision makers all changed the way they support and fund social service agencies.  Under Dr. Folcarelli’s leadership, YOU, Inc., extended its influential 44-year legacy as a community pacesetter in behavioral health, family support, residential care, education and community-based services.

Mr. Forsberg, in serving as the transitional leader of our agency, will head a staff of more than 600 human service, health care and administrative professionals at nearly two dozen Central Massachusetts locations.

The agency will conduct a nationwide search for a permanent chief executive officer over the course of the next year.
