Spreading Holiday Cheer!

In these difficult economic times, more families than ever before faced the recent holidays with extremely limited resources, and almost no hope of providing gifts for their children. But thanks to the tireless dedication of three Y.O.U., Inc. staffers – Lenore Rust, Kelly Sullivan and Bonnie Pulver – and a host of very generous sponsors, hundreds of children who receive services at more than 45 Y.O.U. Inc. programs found gifts under the tree at Christmas this year.

The Adopt-a-Child program has been working its magic for many years, thanks in no small part to Kelly and Lenore’s incredible compassion and tenacity. Both Lenore, the agency’s Director of Intensive Foster Care, and Kelly, Director of our Teen Living and Pregnant and Parenting Teen Services, are in their 17th year with Y.O.U. Inc. On top of their extremely busy program schedules and multiple responsibilities, they spend weeks coordinating donations, sorting gifts, and scheduling deliveries of the more than 3,000 gifts donated by 50-plus corporate, community and individual donors.

Bonnie Pulver, Assistant Program Director at the Wetzel Center, once again this year took a leadership role in the local Santa Foundation – a collaborative which ensures that children who receive services in many area agencies’ Residential Care programs are also surprised with special gifts.

Caring for children who are struggling with behavioral health issues, or are separated from their families during the holidays is an especially poignant responsibility. Kelly, Lenore, Bonnie, and their small army of volunteers and donors have made it their shared mission to ensure that the children in our programs feel some much-needed joy on Christmas morning. Congratulations on your wonderful and heartfelt achievements!
