Grafton House

Program Snapshot

The Grafton House has a long history of providing group home services for girls ages 12 to 18 who are referred by the Department of Children and Families, often with a history of running away, physical and sexual abuse, substance abuse, truancy and family conflict. Grafton House provides a safe and stable group living environment in which clients and their families can work to stabilize crisis situations, build on their strengths, heal emotionally and build a successful and productive life in their community.

Stability for clients is the principal goal of the Grafton House program; staff consistently emphasize strong community connections with the client’s school, service providers, friends and mentors. To further develop the community and school connection, girls are strongly encouraged to participate in positive activities such as varsity and junior varsity sports, school clubs, and the performing arts. High expectations for academic success and personal conduct round out the program’s focus, and ensure that Grafton House clients are well-equipped to succeed in their families, schools, and home communities upon discharge from the program.
