Dynamy Youth Academy

Program Snapshot

The Upward Bound (Bruce Wells Scholars) and Youth Academy programs at Y.O.U., Inc. provide promising but at-risk high school students in the Worcester Public schools with the opportunity to achieve their dreams of a college education. The programs combine intensive academic supports with college and career planning, life skills education, and a strong emphasis on family participation to prepare students to successfully matriculate to higher education.

Students in the Upward Bound and Youth Academy programs receive general academic tutoring, participate in MCAS and SAT prep sessions, and have regular career exploration and internship opportunities. Students also receive college application and financial aid counseling, and mentoring from program alumni and professionals from schools and businesses in the area.

Both programs facilitate numerous one-day college visits, as well as a longer Spring College Tour, so that students who would otherwise not have the resources to make these visits, can see first-hand the schools they may be applying to. The Upward Bound program includes a comprehensive six-week residential and academic Summer Program at Clark University; students in the summer program take a full slate of classes on the Clark Campus for five weeks, followed by a one-week, paid full-time internship.
