Substance Use Services

Substance Support for Youth & Adolescents

Our  Substance Use Services support youth ages 11-18 years old who have a substance use diagnosis or who are early in their recovery from substance use to help them achieve the future they dream of.

Individualized Treatment Options

These services include a continuum of treatment options including assessment, outpatient groups, relapse prevention, individual and family therapy, and drug screening. Motivational interviewing, cognitive and behavioral therapy, and therapeutic recreation activities are techniques blended together to help meet the unique needs of adolescents at every stage of their treatment and recovery.

A youth’s substance use is often connected to their personal history, environment, and other life stressors; thus, our substance use programs place a strong emphasis on treating those factors, which can include depression, PTSD, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. Clients are also introduced to the philosophy and values of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, which further strengthens the youth’s partnership with community resources that can help them to maintain their sobriety in the long term.

The Team

The Substance Abuse Services treatment team consists of licensed clinicians (LMFT, LICSW, LMHC) and graduate-level interns, with direct consultation from the agency’s Medical Director, who is a board-certified Child Psychiatrist. The service and team are embedded in the Worcester Counseling Center, giving them access to all types of clinical and educational expertise as a resource as well.
