Pregnant and Parenting Teen and Voices with Choices

Program Snapshot

The Pregnant and Parenting Teen (PPT) program provides comprehensive prenatal, parenting education, dropout prevention, pregnancy and HIV prevention counseling, and supportive services to pregnant and parenting teens and their infants across Southern Worcester County. The PPT program provides skilled nursing support, school and home visits, counseling and crisis intervention, case management, prenatal and teen mother support groups, life skills and parenting education for both girls and boys, transportation, and social service advocacy/referral.

Ensuring that pregnant teens receive excellent prenatal and pediatric care in order to reduce the incidence of low birth weight babies is a priority for the program. The program’s Registered Nurse provides thorough prenatal counseling, and prepares the client to achieve a healthy birth experience and assume the parenting role. Case managers from the PPT program not only provide direct education and counseling to clients, but also facilitate collaboration between schools, agencies and the community in order to identify gaps in services for parenting teens, and promote community awareness.

Clients at a Glance

The Pregnant and Parenting Teen program serves girls ages 12 to 24 years old and their infants, from participating towns across Central MA. Workshops and parenting education for boys are also offered as needed.
