Description

The After Hours Program assists local police departments in assessing and placing juvenile offenders and Children in Need of Services (CHINS) offenders in foster homes overnight. The program services Worcester and the surrounding towns between the hours of 4:00 p.m., and 8:00 a.m. and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.

Population

Juveniles under arrest after court hours, and who are being detained in police lockups.

Services

• Assessment of juveniles who are arrested after the court has been closed for the day.
• Upon the release of the juvenile from police custody, the child is transported to a foster home and placed in care until the following court business day.
• The juvenile is then picked up in the morning and transported to court where the juvenile is detained until he/she appears before the judge to answer charges.

This program is provided at no cost the juvenile or the police department.
