Description

The Alternative Sentencing Project provides the local courts with an alternative to traditional sentencing models. Instead of a fine, period of incarceration, or other penalty an offender is mandated to perform community service at an individual placement. ASP staff interview, place and track offenders enrolled in the program. The offender is held responsible for his/her action through the performance of community service. The community benefits from the services received. The criminal justice system has a sentencing option which provides close supervision for the offender and frees court personnel to deal with more serious cases.

Population

The program services both juvenile and adult offenders in Central Massachusetts courts who are mandated by the court system to perform community service. There is no cost for the use of the program.
