The youth we serve in our carefully designed, 24-hour a day
therapeutic environments, are engaged by a highly trained staff
to establish and achieve a broad array of developmentally sensitive
treatment goals. Disrupted family relationships, the effects
of physical and sexual trauma, behavioral and emotional problems
are all routinely addressed, and often resolved through the
course of a child’s time with us. Our strength-based and
family-focused philosophy ensures that our work with children
and families proceeds with the highest level of respect and
collaboration. A child
or adolescent’s day in one of our residential programs
can include a wide spectrum of therapeutic experiences. Our
living space—what we call a clinical “milieu”—is
a powerful stabilizing and growth-encouraging setting that
provides in-the-moment responses to struggling youth. Individual
and group therapies are provided on a daily or weekly basis
throughout our residences. Intensive family therapy is also
an integral part of our treatment approach. In our more intensive
programs, medical and psychiatric personnel assess and manage
complex medication needs, and in-house therapeutic schools
assist residents to be academically successful. Occupational
Therapy, music, movement, and adventure-based therapies, even
interactive therapies utilizing horses and dogs, are a part
of our multidimensional approach to finding solutions to the
most challenging problems facing children and families in
the Central Massachusetts region.
