Prior to beginning their job, new employees receive a four day, comprehensive training in basic skill areas, including: Agency History, Mission, and Values; Employee Benefits and Agency Policies; Client Confidentiality and Professional Ethics; First Aid, Universal Precautions, and CPR; Crisis De-escalation and Physical Management training. Additionally, training in the areas of Medication Administration, Van Safety and Defensive Driving are also provided. Clinical Training Program

Y.O.U., Inc.’s Clinical Training program is a multifaceted annual series designed to bring staff from throughout the agency together to learn and think about diverse clinical topics, treatment issues, and best practices. Workshops range from half day to full day, and are taught by experts in the human service field. Additionally, Y.O.U., Inc. utilizes the exciting and highly effective teaching modality of Grand Rounds, conducted by our Medical Director, Dr. Mila Tonkonogy, to further employees’ understanding of complex clinical issues and to advance their professional development.

Leadership Development Institute

Y.O.U., Inc. is committed to developing and enhancing the skills of future managers in the human service field. We accomplish this through a three-tiered Leadership Development Institute that provides Y.O.U., Inc. management personnel with the skills and concepts needed to perform their jobs with optimum efficiency and effectiveness. Management training, enrichment opportunities, as well as individual coaching and mentoring are targeted to three levels of Y.O.U., Inc. managers: the emerging manager making the transition from direct care to being a supervisor; the mid level manager looking to continue their management skill development, and the upper level manager being groomed for senior leadership positions within the agency.

Intern Training Program

Y.O.U., Inc. has established a reputation as a premier training site for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral level students from throughout the New England area. Our centrally organized, comprehensive intern training program includes hands on experience in the field with clients and families at more than 20 different sites, direct observation of clinical treatment, extensive clinical supervision, and participation in Grand Rounds. We also offer an advanced Family Therapy Institute, and an academic lecture series, The Clinical Work With Children and Families, for graduate interns.

Worcester Institute on Loss and Trauma

The Worcester Institute on Loss and Trauma, originally created to assist the Worcester community after the trauma and catastrophe of the Worcester Cold Storage warehouse fire of December 1999, has continued its mission to provide consultation, education, and training to professionals working with trauma survivors. This highly successful full day conference is open to all Y.O.U., Inc. personnel, as well as the community at large. Additionally, Y.O.U., Inc. offers consultation and training to other organizations that need assistance dealing with issues relating to trauma and trauma recovery.
