Referral agencies include school
districts, the Department of Youth Services, the Department
of Social Services, or any other agency with the Local Education
Authority approval.
The school’s academic
design includes classes with a low staff to student ratio
for grades 5-12. Classroom instruction specializes in supporting
students with specific and unique accommodations as part of
their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). All instruction
is individualized to the student's learning style. IEPs are
developed in collaboration with the sending school district
team and specify the student’s disability, goals, and
objectives for an educational placement. All academic courses
are aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Doctoral and master level
clinicians provide clinical services at KBPS. Therapeutic
services include counseling supports, behavioral counseling,
and diverse opportunities for creative and recreational experiences.
Family counseling is scheduled as needed. Additional services
provided at KBPS include case management, transition planning,
MCAS preparation, learning and functional-behavioral assessments,
adventure-based learning, and cultural enrichment activities.
